"We have two sons who are scratch golfers in a non-golfing family. This never could have happened without The First Tee of Greater Sacramento. Andrew and Austin started out in a SAYGolf camp around age 10, just to expose them to the game. They enjoyed it and continued into Little Linkers playing 18 holes with an adult, and then The Junior Tour and competition. They have learned many life lessons from the game and their experiences surrounding it. They have learned to love golf. I especially appreciate the core values and life skills focus of The First Tee versus the domination of competition/winning with other golf programs. The First Tee has helped us raise our sons to feel comfortable with themselves in the world, and give back to the community. I can't speak highly enough about the difference it has made in our lives." Marsha and Charles Roberts
The First Tee of Greater Sacramento Program
Our mission to “The First Tee of Greater Sacramento impacts the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.” will be taught at several new locations this summer.
This program annually brings over 100 young people and adults with down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, and other disabilities out to the golf course 25 weeks per year.
Adaptive Physical Education
The First Tee of Greater Sacramento began a partnership with the Sacramento City Unified School District. This partnership has annually brought 60-80 developmentally challenged students out to William Land Golf Course for golf and life skills training that satisfies these students' physical education requirement.
Swing Club for the Blind
The club has averaged 15-20 players and 25-30 volunteers annually. Each weekly outing includes nine holes of golf, preceded by a short review lesson in golf fundamentals given by a staff member of The First Tee. During the round, each player is accompanied by a sighted volunteer who assists in lining up the golfer and providing information about distance and direction
National School Program (NSP)
The First Tee National School Program introduces the game of golf and The First Tee Nine Core Values and Nine Healthy Habits to elementary students during physical education classes.
